Starting at SNSec · Chaeyoung Lee

In the second semester of 2024 I took Server Administration and Security with Professor Seonghoon Jeong. It's also the course that led me into SNOROSE as a DevOps. By the end of it I wanted to see what research looked like, so I asked Prof. Jeong for a meeting.

I brought a PDF of my previous activities record to that meeting. It gave us something concrete to talk about, and a few days later I was setting up a desk at the System & Network Security Lab.

Day one was one I'd been looking forward to. A workstation named lab, a GPU I'd only read about (nvidia-smi, an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER), and connecting to it from my own laptop over SSH — once I figured out that the machine's name, lab, stands in for its IP address.

Then Prof. Jeong handed me the task for my first semester as an undergrad researcher: reproduce X-CANIDS, the lab's in-vehicle intrusion detection model, and push past it.
